Murals of HRM

The Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia has some amazing murals. I’ll be adding photos as I visit different areas. Where I can find them, I am including artist names and a link to the artist’s website or socials, or the place I found them identified. If you are an uncredited artist of any of these pieces, please let me know (joannemerriam at gmail)!

Cultural Federations of Nova Scotia Building

This building used to be the Station at Pier 21, and is now inclusive of the Cultural Federations of Nova Scotia and the Garrison Brewery. These were taken as panoramas by hand, so just pretend the edges are straight.

Halifax: Downtown Marriott (2024)

I’ve separated out the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel murals because they aren’t permanent. These were installed in summer/autumn 2024. Unfortunately I missed the August 2024 murals.

Halifax: Grafton Street

This is a whole area with parking and picnic tables on Grafton Street painted during a Halifax Mural Festival (except maybe “Magic Meadows” which appears to be a more permanent installation) – half the area was fenced off when I was there in summer 2024:

Halifax: Quinpool Road Murals

Many more to be added – we ran out of daylight when taking those above. Below are temporary murals on the corner of Quinpool & Robie where there’s a building under renovation, on the plywood siding hiding the work, June 2024:

Peggy’s Cove region

This is wildly incomplete! I started with the map of muraled traffic boxes (which I’m still working through) and have been adding others as I discover them. More murals: Halifax Mural Festival ; Discover Halifax list ; Think Halifax list lists 1 & 2. Indoor murals include Richard Rudnicki’s D Day mural at The Army Museum.
