I’ve been reading about the tornado in Murfreesboro on the 10th. I lived in Murfreesboro off and on while Alan and I were courting, and then from late 2004 until we moved to New Hampshire in 2006, and then again for the summer and fall semester this year, and it’s absolutely crazy to see places that you drove past daily for months only a few months ago so completely destroyed they’re unrecognizable. A lot of people’s houses were destroyed or have caved-in roofs. My friend Jason posted photos on Facebook of trucks that had blown across highways or split into pieces, of aluminum siding flapping in the breeze hanging from electrical lines, of houses collapsed with the attic toys spilling out over their driveways. There’s a gallery on The Daily News Journal‘s site. I’m relieved that my friends are all okay, but a few people have died and many more are injured; the Red Cross is asking for donations.
Murfreesboro is all fucked up.

I’m always in awe of their power.
I’ll glad your friends are ok.
Me too.
